Friends of Akindele Community Development Foundation (popularly known as Friends of Akindele) is a people-centered initiative dedicated to uplifting individuals and communities through compassion, empowerment, and sustainable action.
The foundation works across key areas of human development — from education and healthcare to agriculture, community development, and general well-being. Our focus is on restoring hope, creating real opportunities, and building communities that can stand strong on their own. Through consistent outreach, transparent service, and genuine care, Friends of Akindele continues to touch lives and inspire a culture of giving, growth, and shared humanity.
Friends of Akindele began from the personal journey of our founder, Engr. Akindele Emmanuel, whose childhood was shaped by both loss and extraordinary kindness. After losing his father at a young age, he experienced what it meant for people to step in during life’s hardest moments – supporting his education, helping his family with food, and offering encouragement when it was needed most.
Growing up faster than expected and working early jobs to support his family taught him resilience, empathy, and the value of people helping people. These experiences became the seed that would eventually grow into Friends of Akindele.
The name “Friends of Akindele” reflects a simple but powerful idea: everyone connected to this mission is a friend. Those who support the vision and those whose lives we touch are all part of one family. It is a community built on compassion, shared humanity, and mutual respect.
Friends of Akindele began by supporting just 30 families, but the impact grew each year, reaching more households, assisting students, providing medical help, and strengthening community support. The Gift of Learning Initiative(2025) expanded this reach by giving notebooks and covering exam fees for secondary school students across several communities. Alongside these programs, quiet acts of kindness continued behind the scenes through small interventions, medical support, and emergency assistance offered without publicity.
Today, Friends of Akindele continues to grow through simple values: compassion, integrity, and genuine care for people. Our work spans education, health, agriculture, community development, and general welfare, each guided by the belief that every act of kindness matters.
Through it all, one thing remains unchanged: every resource given to Friends of Akindele goes directly to those who truly need it. What began with a single story and a small step has grown into a movement of hope, proving that you don’t need to have everything to make a difference. You only need a willing heart, a clear purpose, and the courage to begin.
